Heart to Honduras is a non-denominational ministry with a mission to foster sustainable, holistic transformation in the lives of rural Honduran communities. As a partner with HTH, Boston Stoker supports the organization financially and has joined the team on many trips to Honduras to build homes for impoverished families. While Boston Stoker served the community, the team saw a greater need to make a sustainable economic impact. Farming is the main source of income for the Lomas del Aguila community, and Boston Stoker wanted to use their years of experience in coffee to provide the farmers with resources and education to take their coffee to the next level. higher quality > higher product price > higher income.

Model Farms
Boston Stoker connected with USAID, also working in the area, and identified 12 model farms to improve their coffee production. Samples were evaluated and documented to establish a baseline score. Farmers all throughout the area were welcome to join educational sessions led by exceptional coffee producers in Honduras.
Throughout the year, USAID assisted the 12 farms with the addition of drying beds and fertilizer optimization.
The Boston Stoker team took several visits to provide in-person feedback and test their improvement. After the next harvest, on average, each farm improved their coffee scores by 3 points resulting in a large increase to their product price. Now, these farms are the models for coffee farms throughout the area and producing some of the best coffee in Honduras. You can shop the products below.
